Take Action Now
While the Darfur scorecard is a powerful tool, it is effective only when coupled with the action of American citizens. Below are five ways you can use DarfurScores.org to take action to help stop the genocide in Darfur.
- 1
- Contact your members of Congress about their grades on stopping genocide. Visit their profiles on this site and send an e-mail or call their offices today! Be sure to mention that you are paying attention to their grade on Darfur, and expect them to take action to protect civilians now. See The Next Steps for Congress for what to focus on. If you would like help or additional information about contacting the offices of your elected officials, please let us know.
- 2
- Meet with your elected officials to talk about Darfur and their grades on stopping genocide. Members of Congress are often available for meetings in their home districts. Even if they are working in Washington, D.C., you can always set up meetings in their district offices. These meetings allow you to express your commitment to ending genocide and often translate into immediate congressional action. Contact us for more information about setting up these meetings.
- 3
- Write to your local media about members’ scores on Darfur. Let readers know whether their members of Congress are fighting to protect civilians in Darfur, or if they are failing to stand against genocide. Write letters to the editor telling your elected officials how they can improve their grades. Contact us for talking points and tips on writing your letter.
- 4
- Tell your friends to help you save lives in Darfur by sending them an e-card about DarfurScores.org. Tell at least ten friends and encourage them to write to their members of Congress. The more constituents write Congress, the more action Congress will take. Make sure you’ve signed up for our newsletter (at right) so we can keep you informed about the latest developments!
